The real-time collaboration infrastructure alone (operational transforms or CRDTs) is months of engineering before a single AI feature ships, which makes the difficulty-5 rating accurate. At $5k–$20k MRR, the revenue ceiling is low relative to the build cost — hitting that range requires somewhere between 50 and 200 paying teams, which is achievable but leaves almost no margin for the ongoing model API costs and infra that come with rich AI co-authoring. The single most likely failure mode is building a technically impressive editor that teams try once and abandon because Notion or Google Docs is already embedded in their workflow and switching costs exceed any marginal AI quality difference.
