BoltClaw - AI Agent Payment Gateway
A bridge between AI agents (Claude, others) and paid APIs using Lightning Network micropayments. Agents can autonomously pay for API calls and outsource tasks, solving the bottleneck of agents without bank accounts. Target: AI agent developers and orchestration platforms.
The Machine-to-Machine payment problem is real and gaining traction as agentic AI workflows move from demos to production — Anthropic, OpenAI, and others are actively publishing on autonomous agent infrastructure, and the lack of a payment primitive is a genuine friction point developers hit. No clear incumbent owns this specific intersection of Lightning Network and AI agent orchestration, though Stripe is exploring AI-native billing and projects like L402 (Lightning HTTP 402) have laid some groundwork without capturing the market. The $500–3k/mo revenue band is plausible but tight: transaction-fee models on micropayments require enormous volume to matter, and a per-seat or platform-fee model would need adoption at orchestration layer to get there, neither of which is trivially achieved. The biggest risk is that the major agent platforms — LangChain, AutoGPT successors, or the foundation model providers themselves — simply build a first-party solution or endorse a standard that makes a standalone gateway irrelevant before any meaningful distribution is established.
