Anthropic's Model Context Protocol is gaining real traction as the de facto standard for giving LLMs access to external tools, and desktop automation is one of the last frontiers that hasn't been cleanly solved in the agentic stack — browser automation has Playwright and Computer Use, but Linux desktop control via MCP has no clear incumbent. The $500–2k/mo revenue band is honest: this is likely a developer tool that gets adopted as a library or self-hosted component rather than a subscription, which makes monetization structurally harder than the category suggests. The biggest risk is that Anthropic's own Computer Use API, or a well-resourced OSS project, absorbs this use case before a paying user base forms — the MCP ecosystem moves fast and a thin wrapper around xdotool or AT-SPI can be replicated in a weekend.
