The explosion of AI coding agents—Cursor, Copilot, Devin, and their kin—has created a real, new demand signal: agents need somewhere safe to run arbitrary code, and "just use localhost" doesn't scale when you're orchestrating dozens of parallel tasks. The closest incumbent is E2B, which is already targeting this exact agentic runtime niche and has raised funding to do it, so differentiation needs to be sharp, not incremental. The $2k–10k/mo revenue band is plausible given usage-based pricing on compute seconds, but it requires either high volume of small customers or a handful of teams running agents at scale—neither is easy to reach organically. The biggest risk is that cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Fly.io) commoditize ephemeral compute fast enough that the managed abstraction layer stops being worth the margin, leaving the builder squeezed between infrastructure costs and a race to zero on pricing.
