Gas Price Alert App
Drivers waste time and money hunting for cheap gas. A simple app that alerts users when gas prices drop below their target price at nearby stations and shows real-time pricing from major chains would save them money.
Gas prices have been volatile since 2021 and consumer price sensitivity remains high, which keeps demand for price-tracking tools real. GasBuddy is the obvious incumbent here and it already does exactly this — crowdsourced pricing, alerts, station maps — with millions of users and a freemium model backed by fuel card monetization. The $2k–10k/mo revenue band is plausible only through ads or affiliate fuel card partnerships, but both channels are weak margins and GasBuddy has already locked up most of the major partnerships. The core risk is that you're building a feature, not a product, in a space where the dominant player has a decade-long data moat and an established user habit loop that's nearly impossible to displace without a fundamentally different angle.
