Local-First Observability for AI Agents
Developer tool (npx lookspan) providing observability, logging, and debugging for AI agents without sending data to external servers. Developers can monitor agent behavior, track issues, and debug locally. Target: AI/LLM developers building autonomous agents.
Agent observability is genuinely hot right now — LangSmith, Langfuse, and Arize Phoenix are all gaining traction as developers struggle to debug non-deterministic agent behavior, and enterprise teams are increasingly blocked by data-residency and privacy requirements that make cloud-based tracing tools a compliance headache. Langfuse is the closest direct competitor, though it defaults to cloud and the self-hosted path has real operational overhead — a zero-config local-first CLI fills a specific gap there. The $1k–5k/mo revenue band is realistic but tight: this is a classic devtools monetization problem where the free local tier attracts users but converting to paid (team plans, persistent storage, CI integration) requires enough friction in the free version to justify it without alienating the developer audience. The biggest risk is that the major agent frameworks — LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI — ship native tracing that's good enough, collapsing the window before this gets distribution.
