The database GUI space is seeing real pressure as teams move toward collaborative, cloud-native workflows — tools like TablePlus and DataGrip dominate but neither offers meaningful multiplayer or modern editor-quality UX, so there's a genuine gap for a Figma-style experience. TablePlus is the closest incumbent: beloved by solo developers, weak on team features, and ripe for disruption if the execution is right. The $2k–10k/mo revenue band is plausible but tight — database clients historically convert well on one-time licenses, so a subscription model requires either strong team/seat pricing or a cloud sync layer to justify recurring revenue. The biggest risk is surface area: Tauri, LSP integration, multiplayer, and broad database support is an enormous engineering scope for a solo founder or small team, and shipping something meaningfully better than TablePlus across all those dimensions before running out of runway is the most likely failure mode.
