Scam Pattern Database

A crowdsourced database and API where users report and identify phishing/scam emails and websites. Businesses and security teams can integrate it to block known scams automatically and stay updated on emerging threats.

Phishing volumes hit record highs in 2024 and AI-generated scam content is making signature-based detection increasingly inadequate, so a crowdsourced threat intelligence layer fills a real gap in the current toolchain. The closest substitutes are VirusTotal and Google Safe Browsing, both free and deeply entrenched, which is the core problem — security teams already have a default answer and switching cost is low. The $3k–15k/mo range is plausible only if the API is priced per-call or tiered by volume and the database achieves enough coverage to be meaningfully better than free alternatives, neither of which is guaranteed early on. The most likely failure mode is the cold-start problem: the database is worthless without contributors, contributors don't show up without a useful database, and unlike consumer apps there's no viral loop to paper over that gap.
