Spreadsheet-to-POS System for SMBs
A modern point-of-sale app designed for small businesses still using notebooks and Excel for inventory/sales. Simple, affordable alternative to complex POS systems. Target: mom-and-pop shops, food vendors, small retailers.
Small retailers and food vendors are under real pressure to digitize post-pandemic, and Square, Toast, and Shopify POS have largely captured the tech-comfortable segment — leaving a genuine gap among operators who still distrust or can't navigate complex systems. Square is the obvious incumbent, but its onboarding friction and hardware dependency create real churn among the least tech-savvy cohort, which is exactly who this targets. The $1k–$8k/mo revenue band is plausible if priced around $20–$50/month per seat, but it requires volume — hundreds of paying shops — which means customer acquisition cost in a fragmented, offline market is the core economics challenge. The biggest risk is that this segment doesn't pay for software: mom-and-pop owners have historically resisted SaaS subscriptions, and the ones willing to pay have already been converted by Square or Loyverse.
